Parents,

Thank you for sharing your children with us this season. We have fun teaching them the game.

Please help us keep the experience positive for the referees, as well. The City has asked us to reiterate to parents to keep all comments positive on the sideline to set an example for the players. Unfortunately, the City has fielded a couple complaints from the referees about parent yelling.

The referees are human and will make mistakes, but please allow the coaches to make the call on whether there are issues with the officiating. The coaches know the game, have played the game, and understand what is allowed and not allowed. Lacrosse is a contact sport, and the vast majority of fouls are unintentional. We would prefer not to teach the players that it is acceptable yell at the referees when a call does not go your way.

Players at this age are very aware of comments from sideline. At times, it can be confusing for them if coaches are telling them one thing, and parents are telling them something else. Please keep encouragement general and positive, so the coaches can tell the players how to play.

Thank you again for all of your support. We are excited see the players improving everyday.
